Silver Distin Euphonium, 1889

The stamp reads: Superior, Henry Distin, Maker, Piladelphia, Highest Grade, No. 5752, USQMD. The stamp also includes the Distin Trade Mark of an eagle holding a trumpet. It was made in 1889 in Philadelphia. The horn is in good condition, a few patches but no significant dents. The finish is in fair condition. The horn was recently refurbished (valves aligned, cleaned throughout), but is not in concert condition. The horn currently blows in the key of B (unknown reasons), and a pair of tuning slide extensions would be needed to bring it down to Bb. Excellent show piece, and a beautiful work of artistry. Lots of scroll work and artistic detail. No case available.
