When I purchased my new custom 220, it came in this beautiful case. The only reason I don't use it is because I already have a Bonna case that was gifted to me, so I'm currently selling it for 400 dollars. (Factory new, it's roughly around 475) I took my bassoon out of it and never used it again, so it's in absolutely perfect condition. I was surprised as to how sturdy and well made the shoulder strap for the case cover is, much better than the Bonna case back pack straps. This case would be great for someone looking for a protective hard case for their bassoon. (The Bonna case is not a hard case, but I use it because it's got more pockets for holding Milde, Weissenborn studies, tools, and such) We'll discuss shipping upon inquiry.

Bassoon Soft Case - used only a few months - in perfect condition.
This made in USA oval soft case is made of black, coated nylon duck, heavily padded with closed cell foam and lined with a lint free nylon cloth. Its unique features distinguish it from all other bassoon gig bags:
· Four adjustable length compartments into which the joints are placed rather than sliding them into a tube. There can be no movement of the joints against one another. Plastic panels assure that the case remains rigid.
· Fits all standard bassoons, as well as a wide range of 'non standard' bassoons including baroque, classical, French etc.
· A protective, padded inner flap covers the joints. Rigid bocal compartments are within the protective flap.
· Zippered and padded lid encloses the bassoon.
· Modular backpack straps are concealed within a separate pocket.
· Adjustable shoulder strap
· Light weight, about 5 lbs.
· 29" X 14" X 5 1/2"

Fox Model 201, purchased by seller in 1987, played professionally in Columbus, OH Civic Orchestra, State Orchestra of Mexico, US Air Force Band Over Mid-America. I went on an eight-day tour with the US Air Force Band playing Mozart's Concerto in Bb with great success. Full German system plus high D and E keys. Left hand whisper key lock hand-crafted by James Laslie when it was bought new. Sliver-plated keys. Not many rollers (see pictures) for less finger travel (what I always preferred). Impecabbly maintained with only a couple minor bumps on the "seat side" of the boot joint. I am selling it because I just no longer get a chance to play it with 4 kids and a busy life that no longer involves playing for a living. This horn would play professionally without doubt. It would also serve a student wanting an instrument with all the professional qualities needed to progress to the professional level, but 1/2 the cost. Serial number 14474. More pictures available upon request.

This price includes one Fox C number 1 bocal and one Heckel CD number 1 bocal.

I have available for purchase a pre-war bocal at an additional $1,000. It is a CC, number 2.

Please contact me to arrange a time to play the instrument. For serious inquiries I can travel to St. Louis or ship nationwide at the seller's expense upon purchase or the buyer's expense if not purchased.

This really is a great buy for an instrument that is in practically in mint condition!

Hi, my name's Reyna. I'm a junior in high school, specifically Mid Pacific Institute. I'm a certificate student of the Mid Pacific School of the Arts, and I've been playing bassoon for almost 5 years now. I'd like my very first bassoon, so that's why I'm here.

Some musical history of me--
7th Grade- OBDA 7th Grade Honor Band
8th Grade- OBDA Middle School Select band, First chair
Freshman Year- OBDA High School Select Symphonic Band, Second Chair
Sophomore Year- OBDA High School Select Wind Ensemble, First Chair
Junior Year- OBDA High School Select Wind Ensemble, Second Chair, Hawaii Youth Symphony One, Third Chair.

I'm a capable player, so I'm looking for a good bassoon, preferably a Puchner, Fox, or Yamaha. I'm looking around $4-$5.5K, if that seems reasonable. I'm also looking for a recording, since I'm not that rich and can't afford to fly all the way to Never-Land to test a bassoon I may not buy. In any case, I'd prefer it used, at least broken in, and the two brands mentioned above. I will absolutely NOT take a Linton, Amati, Jupiter, or Schreiber. Thanks~ e-mail me if you're interested in indulging my wants, and we'll talk price.

Description
I've recently purchased another bassoon, so my Fox Renard 240 bassoon is up for sale. Serial number 301xx. I purchased the instrument new from Keith Bowen in 2000, who did his standard array of modifications and improvements. An upgraded, professional U-tube was installed on the boot joint. I've had it serviced regularly by Keith since then.

It's in great shape and plays very well with a lovely tone. This is a wonderful instrument for a student (with or without professional aspirations!) or a serious amateur. I've used this horn to play principal bassoon in the Olympia Symphony for the last 9 seasons.

I also have a Heckel CC2 bocal available which matches very well with the horn. Let me know if you'd be interested in that!

$6500, plus any shipping costs.

Description
Up for sale is my personal Fox 660 bassoon. I bought this bassoon just a little over a year ago. It is made ofmountain maple, and has the high gloss black finish with gold keywork, both a left hand and right hand rotary style whisper key locks, and RH Eb trill with offset C#. I played this instrument againist the newer red maple instruments, and it was only just the slightest bit brighter in tone. Comes with 1 CTX #2 bocal which works great for 1st bassoon work, and a CVX#3 which is darker for 2nd bassoon and small groups settings.

I meticulously maintained this instrument, and took advantage of the free servicing from the factory. So this instrument has had the privilege of being babied by its owner who is a bassoon technician to really make it play to its optimum.

I used this bassoon regularly all last season in the orchestras I played with. It has a beautiful dark tone quality, that reminded me of a 7000 series Heckel but had more power and authority when pushed, and a much easier low register. I have also had a few professional and amateur customers play this horn that were very impressed by this instruments playability.

I have to sell this bassoon and s quickly as possible, I have developed some severe complications with my eyesight from diabetes, and have medical bills piling up. I HAVE TO SELL IT!!!

My loss is your gain, and to show how strongly I believe in this instrument, I am willing to warrant all workmanship on this instrument, and offer another free servicing on this instrument a year from the new owners purchase, and will ofeer to add or midify any keywork for the cost of the parts if new keywork is desired, or a 10% discount of the labor cost if adjustments are only needed.

I am asking $19,000 for this instrument, but am willing to consider a reasonable offer.

I have photos available upon request, and am willing to arrange 1 week trials.

Please contact me by my information below (cell phone preferred) for any questions, or concerns.

Best Regards,
Chad

I am only selling because I am no longer int he music field and the instrument has just been sitting in my closet. I'd prefer selling to someone relatively local (NYC, Boston, ect.) just so that you can try it out before buying, but anyone interested is certainly welcome to contact me. I am reluctantly selling my Moosmann 100A bassoon. It was purchased new in 2003 from Forrest's Music in Berkeley, and I've been the sole owner since. It is in excellent condition and will be given a thorough looking over by Daniel Deitch in San Francisco before being sold. The instrument has a tone quality that far exceeds even the new price of the instrument, with a particularly rich lower register.

Heckel system, made of Yugoslavian mountain maple, and fully keyed in silver plate with high D key, high E key, right hand thumb whisper lock, 6 rollers and 2 bocals (One Moosmann and one double-star Fox). Includes hard case, case cover, and blue Alteri gig bag. This is an excellent bassoon for anyone from a new student to an aspiring young professional.

Asking $5000. Call or email, those local to the Bay Area of California are encourage to test the horn in person.

Hello, I am a music major at a small private school in PA. I am studying bassoon and my school has given me a really nice bassoon to use. I have 2 bassoons of my own that I would like to sell. They both work well and I enjoy playing them, but I need the money more than I need the instruments.

One bassoon is a Linton bassoon-plastic body. It comes with a crutch, 2 bocals, and I will include a seat strap. It shows signs of normal wear (some tarnishing on keys and scratches on body) but is plays well.

The other bassoon is a conn bassoon. This is an older instrument but still plays really well. This instrument also shows sign of normal wear but is in good playing condition. The case is a little beat up on the outside but still provides good protection for the instrument. This bassoon comes with a crutch, 1 bocal, and I will include a seat strap.

The price is $1000 for each which will include shipping if you don't live near me and the price of the seat strap.

Please let me know if you are interested or would like more information.

Thanks!

Description
Heckel Bassoon No. 12046. Played professionally by Arthur Grossman and me, Don MacCourt. Arthur had many special keys on this bassoon and I have had it restored to the normal Heckel keywork by Charles Huebner. Remaining special features include: “Gentleman” (short) long joint with separate piece between it and the bell, rollers on low C and D - Bb, F# and G# right thumb - F, F# and G# right little finger, Whisper key lock for right thumb, High F key above tone hole 1, High E key between 1 and 2, E/F# triller between 2 and 3, D/Eb triller first finger of right hand, C/Db triller second finger of right hand, two holes for low C# so that it may be played with either the C# key or the Eb key, special Ab/Bb trill setup so that it can be played with the normal Ab fingering plus the Bb key and trilled with the third and fourth fingers of the right hand, extra vent on the boot joint so that high Ab and A can be played with either the normal G key or the F key. Included is a post-war 0 C bocal with a special mechanism attached to open a small hole near the tip of the bocal by pressing the high D key, making the notes from High D to F speak clearly. To get above F, the mechanism may be held open via a small lever. The bassoon has a full, warm, resonant and even sound, and is a pleasure to play in solo, chamber music or orchestra. Asking $37,500. I will be happy to bring the instrument into New York City for anyone who wants to try it.

Two Fox *CVX* (doublestar) Bocals
Ad Number: 3776 Date Posted: 12/19/2008
Contact: Sean Gordon

Telephone:
E-mail: seangordon11@gmail.com
Web Site:

Description
I am looking to sell two Fox *CVX* bassoon bocals. They are numbers 2 and 3 and came with my Renard 240 when I purchased it new 4 years ago. I now have an outstanding Heckel bocal and do not use either of these Foxes any more. Here are my descriptions
#2- No tarnish, no bends, twists or folds, plays in mint condition. Not quite as flawlessly lustrous as brand new bocal, but this does not in any way affect the playing. As with all *CVX* bocals, I believe it is brass with nickel plating. It plays with very solid intonation and is the most stable bocal I have ever tried (and I've been through a lot of bocals in finding the one I use now). It has great dynamic range and responds very quickly in technical passages (not always the case, as i've experienced) and to tonguing. Marriage of Figaro and Beethoven IV excerpts are crisp and beautiful. It also can play very lyrically when power and agility is not required, as in the Andante movement of the Mozart Concerto and the Tchaikovsky Symphony IV solos. While I tried about 30 Heckel and Leitzinger bocals searching for the one I have now, this one I'd say is still better than all but the Heckel I ended up buying.
I'm asking $250 or best offer for this one.
#3- Mild scratches, mild bend. The scratches are mild and do not affect the performance. The bend occurs toward the front of the bend but is very insignificant. It is almost invisible unless you look VERY closely, as the dimensions of the tube hardly change at all, so it has little effect on the bocal's performance. This bocal works marvelously on sharper bassoons that need a longer bocal (#3). This one as well is very responsive in all dynamics. It is representative of all of the Fox bocals I have tried. Not wonderful, but very good and STABLE. I also found this one better than many Heckels I tried.
Both of these bocals are very sufficient for students seeking to upgrade, as they are in tune, responsive, and stable.
Since I find this bocal not as stellar in performance and there are some physical flaws, I ask $175 or best offer.

Description
I have a beautiful Heckel bassoon, serial # 11624, built in 1974 and owned until 2005 by Jesse Read of the Vancouver Philharmonic. Used in several recordings of his. Since owned by me, a student in Ithaca College's School of Music. I graduated recently and have decided to take my career in a different direction.

As far as features, the bassoon has every key made in 1974, rollers along all right-hand keys and some left-hand keys. The bassoon has been maintained in the past three years by Holden McAleer in Baltimore and, sadly, I've forgotten by whom prior, although I'd be happy to contact the original owner. Comes with your choice of either or both the original Gewa case or a two year old Wiseman case. Also, the bassoon comes with a Heckel CC2 unplated bocal that is less than three years old. It is in perfect performance condition, and I feel in selling it I'll be losing a part of myself. However, entering the job market with a loan this large simply doesn't seem feasible and I must sell it.

This is truly a bassoon you don't want to miss out on. The price is $32,000. Please contact me if you are interested in trying the instrument. D.C. area musicians get first priority, but I am willing to ship the instrument at your expense, including insurance. Thanks!

I'm looking for a bassoon for my son. He is a very talented musician who's been playing flute and saxophone. He's recently been encouraged to take up the bassoon in order to open up the opportunities for him. As he is an incredibly fast learner, we'd like to get a bassoon that will see him through into the Youth Orchestra. Preferably we'd like a Moosmann or a Puchner, but will consider a Fox 101 or 201. We don't want to spend more than about $8500-$9000 USD, but may stretch a little higher for a bassoon that is in "as new" condition (ie., is either very new, very well maintained, or recently refurbished.) Fox Model 222 with High D option - serial number 41336

This instrument truely is in new condition as it was purchased about a year go from a local dealer and only used for a few months out of the year. It is stored very well and kept in a humidity friendly environment. The instrument has no wood or key scratches nor wood dings. It plays beautifuly up in the high register as well as low and no tonal issues to speak of. There is a case cover very similar to the Cavallaro case to protect it.

Please feel free to ask any and all questions as I am the sole owner of this instrument.

Please follow link supplied for pictures.
